Wearable Art Awards
The Port Moody Arts Centre presents their annual Wearable Art Awards event which encourages local, Canadian and international artists of all mediums to submit evocative, imaginative and thought provoking creations for the human body. For 2010, the Arts Centre is leveraging the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by organizing a large scale exhibit, with new submissions for 2010 displayed in the Port Moody Arts Centre and displays of retrospective works from previous years in the Port Moody City Hall Galleria, Caffé Divano (Klahanie), Golden Spike Pub, Curves (Port Moody), Rubens Chocolate (Suter Brook Village), Vancity (Suter Brook Village), Pasta Polo (Coquitlam), and the office of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
The entire exhibition includes over 120 garments created using the most unusual combination of materials such as wire, egg carton, soldered brass, seashells, corn husks, and many more to be displayed at the Port Moody Arts Centre, 2425 Saint Johns Street in Port Moody, BC., on now until March 21. The retrospective works will be on display throughout the community from February 3 to March 21.
